This is my grandfathers pocket watch, leather bill fold and cap. He was a coal miner in Alberta. As he never drove a car, he rode his bicycle to work about 10 miles each day. He was injured in the mine, and was on disability before I was born. He used his cane and walked everyday to the post office, tended to his garden and built things in his little garage.

After I had painted the star sitting on the little table, it took me about a month contemplating what to do to finish it! As I was putting these little twinkle lights from my sons wedding in fb market place, the idea came to me! I have to paint my wooden figure decorating the star. The frame is also a painted illusion.

I gathered these wonderfully patinaed silver pieces from a friend to paint. For years we have had a 20 oz. silver bar stuck away in a drawer. I wondered how I could quirkily incorporate this bar into the painting. So there you go, the silver bar dripping down the canvas with the heat of the matches.

Tucked inside the leaves, the fragrant white bells sit protected. I do not usually paint flowers, but these photos taken by my son moved me and when I chose to paint them over-sized, each art piece (of 3) takes my breath away.

When I saw these photos taken by my son, I knew I had to paint them and their simplicity. I can smell the wet earth and the aromatic sweetness of the lilies. I chose to paint them over-sized and this is what gives this series of paintings the impact.

Original composition. The Guitar 23’ X 36” X 1.5” Original Image of guitar taken by Wyatt McSpadden (www.Wyatt McSpadden.com) Steve wanted Willie Nelsons guitar painted. So I made up this composition with an amp, mic and added a red scarf….something that you often see Willie wear. I took much care with all of the signatures and details that are on the face of the guitar. And his guitar strap is so unique and well known.
